Hey, i don't like to download music to my computer, i like to have playlists on youtube and soundcloud so i have my music wherever i am. I love gaming and listening to my music and recently it started happening, that whenever the song changes on one of my playlists, the ping would just go through the roof for like 2-8 seconds and then back down again. It's fine when im on the web, but when im playing a game with my friends, it really bothers me and i have no idea what's causing this. I formatted my pc and it was fine for a little bit, but now it starting again. I dont know what to do, ive tried to search on this problem, but havnt really found any solution to it.
Anytime you play a youtube video, or other media streams the content is downloaded (buffered) before it plays. Chances are a significant amount of buffering is occurring anytime that next song starts.

This problem would likely indicate you have a poor connection to the internet on whatever device is having trouble. Either it is wireless, and has a poor signal. Or, your internet connection is degraded.

You should run a SpeedTest a few times and make sure the download and upload transfers are consistent and the speed is suitable for what you are trying to accomplish.
I have had the same internet connection for a couple of years and never had that problem. Im using cable, not wireless. The speedtests have always been good, i can download stuff at max speed just as i did when i got it. i mean its not the best internet, but its good enough for me (10mb down/1mb up). Outside of this problem with the songs, i have no internet problems, everything is running smooth, no lag. If im not listening to music, ive never had any problems with my ping.
Yeah, done speedtests, those have always been the same results. Pinged a couple of sites, same stuff. Had it pinging while i changed songs in the playlist. For example normally pinging google gives me 50ms and whenever i change the song, it goes to like 90 and then back down to 50 again. 0 packet loss.
Ping times are going to vary when your network connection is in use, when the song starts it is being buffered. The small variance (50ms to 90ms) that you describe is perfectly normal. When the internet connection is under heavy usage you can expect ping times to jump up into the high hundreds and even drop packets. That's what happens. There is a limited amount of bandwidth, and if something uses some of that the other data has no choice but to share and yield. Try running your ping test while you are doing a speedtest. You will see ping times jump much higher than what you described under full load, especially when the upstream test is running. You haven't really indicated what problems you are experiencing because of this, other than maybe it is effecting your game play? I really don't see anything out of the ordinary here. It sounds as if your game is highly sensitive to a little bit of lag. Its probably the game that has changed and not your network. If using your internet for multiple things at the same time is causing your game to lag you need to consider not using them while you are playing.
