running Windows 7. Can't create new folder. Have run malware bytes, have uninstalled unwanted programs through revouninstaller, have run tfc to clean things up. have run sfc in command prompt mode. out of ideas.
outside forums recommend going into regedit. Am hesitant.
Would appreciate some help.
Have you tried a system restore to a point before you had this trouble?
If so and the problem still exists, please run System File Checker to check for any corrupt or missing Windows system files.

What happens when you try to create a new folder? Do you get an error? Can you rename folders? Where are you trying to create this folder.
Yes, I ran restore a week earlier; no change.
However….the restore point removed 5 Microsoft updates.
When I ran the updates again, I couldn't get one to run…but after I ran the others, my problem went away…
Now how run that one update….
