Hi Ghostryan65,
Sorry to hear about the problems with starting your Acer.
When ever a laptop computer has been dropped, there are 4 things you need to do as a priority if it will not start.
1 Check your back ups to see that they include everything that is important to you on your computer (stuff you don't want to lose) there should be at least one extra copy kept safe on removable media offsite and this is the first to check to make sure it does the job you want it to do. When you are totally happy with your back up position then:
2 Inspect the computer carefully, all over externally, for signs of damage, remove and replace the battery ( make sure it's secure)
3 Check RAM modules are correctly seated and run Memtest
4 Check hard drive for physical damage (see below)
5 You can try and test/repair the hard drive (using either the hard drive manufacturer's test/repair utility available from here:http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
First run the short test and if it passes then run the long test (you can skip the accoustic test)
(Be sure to use the correct one for the make of hard drive concerned)
or
6 you can try to use the chkdsk utility (that is part of Windows) the command is:
chkdsk /r
press the enter key.
Note the spaces, they need to be there.
If you want to try the chkdsk command then its best to try and boot into the Recovery Environment/Recovery Console using a Microsoft Windows Installation disc for the operating system used by your computer.
But please remember to make sure your back ups are all OK as repair/testing can put extra stress on hard drives, and after a "shock" the last thing a hard drive needs is extra stress if any data needs recovering.
There is little point in trying to repair software issues until you have established that the hard ware is working reasonably well…
Regards
[]Ok Paws i open laptop and looked for damage and made sure hd was seated and secure. Pulled battery and put back then try to boot, no luck. Then burn image for vista rescue, Ran that and it try to find drive letter in cmd prompt, but could not do so from what i can gather. So did the CHKDSK /R and it said i have NTFS can not run test it is write protected. . Then i made image disk for hd, seagate, Ran short test and long test and both passed without error. So that is all i did hope to here from ya soon . Ghostryan.
