Hi Guys, Hope you can help me again, problem is with my Vista laptop, Until recently we were using o2 dongle on it but last night changed to Ethernet - modem, but before i had chance to uninstall the o2 software my much loved daughter decided to do updates for the dongle, Well now there is nothing but a black screen and a white arrow, i have been able to run disk checks and memory checks, using the F keys, which it then states it will reboot, but nothing! I thought ok so i'll go to the recovery and try to go to last known config but nothing, it says theres no restore point either, it wont start in any safe mode, can anyone help me please I have over 500 pics of my little ones on it which i really dont want to loose by doing a full recovery (thats if it will even do it) do you think it could be a hardware issue rather than a software??? You know i think you are all great  and would really appreciate any help,
If a repair install doesn't fix the problem or you don't have a Vista CD to do the install with, consider buying an external USB enclosure to mount the hard drive from the laptop in. Then you can connect that to another computer and save the pictures and any other data you want. Once that's done, put the drive back in the laptop and do a full restore (to factory state). Reload your data when done. Cost should be less than $50.
Thanks for reply, my partner couldn't wait so he decided to do a full recovery because his" friend" said he did one and didnt lose his pictures, i said that was a partial recovery but hey its all gone. At least now i can find out what caused it, should i go to infections forum and post a log to check that laptop is ok anyway? you may aswell close this thread, Thanks Again Lisa
