I am continiously getting this error: "Windows detected a hard disk problem." "Back up your files immediately to prevent information loss" and it shows again and again after couple of minutes. Also I keep getting a message: Can't find OS! ………Although I have Windows 7 Ultimate. what is also failing ? atheros AR8131 pci-e gigabit ethernet controller (NDIS 6.20) It says that I need to check the cable, but I have wireless internet. BUT when I go to device manager it says that device is working properly. What the tech!? I'm a girl so I don't understand a lot about computers and I'm from Croatia so my english isn't very well :smack: But I would be very thankfull if someone is willing to help me :( Please.. I uploaded some attachments with some informations about my laptop (e-machines E528) and print screen of Device manager's informations. I hope it would be helpfull. I would concentrate on the hard drive for the moment, if windows is warning you to back up your data that may well indicate the hard drive is dying, if this is the case you could lose the entire contents of the hard drive, and if your system came pre-installed (no disk and on a partition), and you have not made a full set of restore disks, you could lose the operating system as well, so if you have not done this yet, it would be wise to do it now while you can, it would be safer than not having anything. I suggest getting the hard drive utility that each (most anyway) drive maker supply's, and run that test (look at the drive code in the device manager and Google it for the maker), there are short and extended tests, try the short first, if that reports errors then it doesn't look good, if it doesn't then run the extended tests, but once it confirms the drive is dying, the only solution is to replace the hard drive with a new one, and be aware that a dying hard drive often gives no notice, so each time you power on could be the last time for that drive, so make sure your data is safe, see what this shows then go from there.
This may help speed things up with finding the diagnostic tool for your hard drive.

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, try the Hitachi DFT CD Image version of the software

I did some homework and I choose to install EVEREST Ultimate Edition (quick scan): Pros: Lists all hardware / software data. Small program. Portable. 100% Accuare data. Fair pricing. Cons: Benchmarking section is small. I hope that I choose right :/ I uploaded an attachment again (PrtSc) that reported some errors about updates. πŸ“ŽWD_HDD_quick_scan.png Also I updated them all (Device manager > Driver > Update driver) but it pops up that all of them are up to date -_- πŸ“Ždevice_man..png πŸ“Žup_to_date.png What should i do next? :(
