Ipad freezes and turns off

Hi Apologies if I'm in the wrong forum. Since I updated serveral games 2 days ago, my IPad has gone on the blink. The tactile screen doesn't respond after about one minute. Then the whole thing switches off and it takes generally 3 attempts to switch back on. It may be something simple but I´m a thickie. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time and help Dianelt
