telephone help for computer virus from internet

Anyone here from the UK getting phone calls from difference places i.e worldcomputers; 'my personal computer maintenance group' with this message? On Thursday I received one call on this topic. Didn't catch the name of the contact. Today (Saturday) I had two more, one from 'my personal computermaintenance group' (as he put it), the other from worldcomputers. All said the same thing, that my computer had downloaded a virus from the internet without my knowledge. Needless to say I hung up the phone. Just interested to hear if anyone else is getting these calls in the UK and if anything can be done about them (apart from hanging up every time!). I had read where a lot of this was happening in the US and that they were bogus calls or scams. Thanks for reading and for any views on the subject. hedley
