UK Virus phone scam

love to have such a call especially with my pc and it's linux os. could be there quite a long time while they try and guide me to the "windows event viewer". :rofl: :popcorn:

Nov 15 2010 - "… Investigators from SOCA's e-crime unit traced a cold calling scam back to gangs that have set up call centres in eastern Europe or Asia. In another scam, "scareware" pop-ups that mimic anti-virus software try to entice computer users to visit websites that host malware with the aim of obtaining personal information. Though scareware tactics are not new, the sheer scale of the gangs' cold-calling operation tends to suggest it has been an extremely profitable exercise. Sharon Lemon, deputy director of SOCA told the BBC*, "In recent cases, we have seen gangs employing 300 to 400 people to run their operations and using call centre-scale set ups to target victims en masse"… The advice seems to be simple: if someone phones up flogging anything, resist any requests for information…"

I like my solution better: Tell them to hold on while you log their CallerID number for your SOCA monitor log… "Yes, we're having all our calls monitored by SOCA…". Then wait for the hang-up click…

In the U.S., just plug-in "FBI" for "SOCA".

That would be a good one, but to hit these people in the pocket is far more satisfying IMHO, it's the only thing they understand, but if you can play it straight for long enough without laughing, keep them dangling as long as you can to cost them, then if they push it and are about to cut off, then add that you have kept them talking so those people could trace them LMAO. :rofl:
