Hello everyone. Thank you in advance for your time. I have a laptop that was comprimised by some backdoor trojan horses and would now like to reinstall the OS. I was being helped on the malware forums by BlackPegasus. Here is the link to the forum topic: http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?ac…27&t=121323
The laptop is running Windows 7. There is a recovery partition, D: drive. I was wondering if someone could assist me with the reinstall.
I found this in the Getting Started - HP Notebook manual here:

To restore the computer from the partition, follow these steps:
1. Access Recovery Manager in either of the following ways:
● Select Start > All Programs > Recovery Manager > Recovery Manager.
– or –
● Turn on or restart the computer, and then press esc while the “Press the ESC key for Startup
Menu” message is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Then, press f11 while the “F11 (HP
Recovery)” message is displayed on the screen.
2. Click System Recovery in the Recovery Manager window.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Hi cjdragon, Now you have it all up and running again..all applications installed, junk files removed and running fast and sweet, with your newly installed operating system….then its a wise person who takes a disc image using Acronis, Paragon, Symantec or similar paid for products or one of the many free disc imaging applications…. With an extra copy of your first (and any incremental disc images) kept safe on removable media offsite and with a bootable CD capable of accessing your disc image (made using the wizard in your disc imagng appplication) then in the event that trouble should ever strike again in the future that cannot be resolved in a timely or cost effective way by the usual means…then you could just reimage back to your "perfect set up" and be up and running again, in less time than it takes to walk the dog…. Its well worth thinking about. Regards paws
