Going crazy!!!!: Setup: Comcast Broadband, Modem Motorola Surfboard extreme (DOCIS-3), Wireless Router: Belkin N750. Computers: 3 wired cat-5 [running Win 7 pro, Win 7 Home Prem and freeNAS], 2 wireless laptops [running Win 7 ulimate and Home prof] (and multiple ipods/iphones etc). : History: Router bought new about 2 weeks ago, Modem new 5 days ago. After installing modem w/ router behind it, everything was working great, both wired and wireless. Yesterday worked in AM and evening nothing worked. What I've done/tried: cycled both router, modem, all computers. Plugged wired computer directly into router: initially nothing, but when did ipconfig/release and rebooted, I had connection and internet. Switched to another computer: didn't work: network adapter sticks on "identifying network"(yellow triangle on network icon) , ipconfig/release doesn't help. Disabled/enabled adapter, windows network diagnostics says: doesn't have a valip IP configuration . (settings are obtain ip automatically, dhcp enabled)…setup seems identical to functioning computer. Virus scans negative, booting in safe mode with network gives same result. Tried additional computer: same result as 2nd (unidentified network). Ipconfig gives ip of 169.254.130.174). Reconnected to 1st: good function/internet access. ipconfig is 98.226.115.82. Don't understand why the one works and other two don't when they all have the same setup. Thanks in advance for any help.
OK, calling off the Calvary. I ended up getting a new cable modem, this one from comcast. once it was activated and I rebooted everything, all is well. Thanks anyway~~~~
Thanks for letting us know Glad you got it fixed  (sorry the cavalry was a little slow on this one…. (one of the horses must have "lost a shoe !") Regards paws
