I have been getting two error messages at bootup for at least a year on my laptop and have had to system restore enough times to count on on two hands, and i was under the assumption that this was due to a drop (it literally fell out of my hands and has a little crack along the side of the laptop) that happened around the same time coincidentially, and i was under the impression that my antivirus software namely "Avast" was protecting me from viruses, but now i'm 99% sure that i am infected with at least one virus that must've slipped through my protection. Today i was doing some cleanup of my C: Drive and Desktop to make space and organize things, and I felt good about it so i decided to update my iTunes (which i always put off for as long as possible) and restart. after that was completed, I rebooted as instructed, it came on and the two error messages came on as usual, and i thought to myself, "I wonder what those mean" so i googled them accordingly, “Error loading c:\Users\Mike\Appdata\Local\disktub.dll
The specified module could not be found" & Error loading c:\Users\Mike\Appdata\Local\KBOSHDI.dll
The specified module could not be found"
*DISCLAIMER* I could not copy & paste the exact directory or text from the actual error messages, so i tried to remember what they said, and i think that's about verbatim. *END DISCLAIMER* now i did not find specific results for those exact files, BUT i did find a similar post on another website, which is http://forums.techarena.in/operating-systems/1097885.htm and i followed the instructions but obviously subbed out his directory for mine, and i discovered two odd looking things, both from unknown manufacturers. The first is Dwagepiguyoru and the command is rundll32.exe "C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local\KBOSHDI.dll",Startup and the location is HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and i disabled it. The second is char_ssp and the command is rundll32 "C:\Users\Mike\Appdata\Local\Temp\disktub.dll",DllGetVersion and the location is HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run & that is also disabled. i looked around in those folders but couldn't find those specific things, which only makes sense because that's what my computer was saying at startup, but about two different things. but i'm sure there is some other virus hiding in there, and i don't know how to go about extracting it, so i did some looking online and found hijackthis, and copied the log down, and i was directed to this forum by a third party forum i am in via someone who had computer virus troubles in the past and said you all were very helpful and i hope you can do the same for me. P.S. I do not know what to do with the information that hijackthis puts out, and that's why I am here, and i'll be sitting in front of my computer waiting for someone to help me. Just thought I'd clarify. Thank you in advance , and here is the log for hijackthis:

Hi kinddeamun, welcome to the forum.

To make cleaning this machine easier
  • Please do not uninstall/install any programs unless asked to
It is more difficult when files/programs are appearing in/disappearing from the logs.
  • Please do not run any scans other than those requested
  • Please follow all instructions in the order posted
  • All logs/reports, etc.. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In notepad click format, uncheck word wrap if it is checked.
  • Do not attach any logs/reports, etc.. unless specifically requested to do so.
  • If you have problems with or do not understand the instructions, Please ask before continuing.
  • Please stay with this thread until given the All Clear. A absence of symptoms does not mean a clean machine.

I see you have posted at Bleeping Computers also. Posting at multiple forums ties up valuable helper resources as logs can take quite awhile to research. If multiple helpers are researching the same lg then someone else is not being helped. If you wish to recieve help here please close your topic at Bleeping Computers or you can close this topic and work with a helper from Bleeping Computers. Thanks for understanding.

We need to look deeper than what HijackThis can show.

Download OTL to your desktop.
  • Right click on OTL.exe and click "Run as Administrator" to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • In the window under Custom Scans/Fixes copy and paste the following

  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply. You may need two posts to fit them all in.

Next

Download aswMBR.exe to your desktop.

Right click on aswMBR.exe and click "Run as Administrator"to run it

Click the "Scan" button to start scan
[external image: Posted Image]

On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply
[external image: Posted Image]

There shall also be a file on your desktop named MBR.dat. Right click that file and select Send To>Compressed (zipped) folder. Please attach that zipped file in your next reply.

Please post back with
  • both OTL logs
  • aswMBR log
  • MBR.zip (attached)
Thanks
