[Resolved] Help! Antivrius Rogue

About a week ago i picked up an antivirus rogue that imitated AVG with its 'detection' windows, AVG was also my virus protection at the time. My initial response to the virus was a system restore to a week prior to the point of symptoms starting (Resident Shield Alert Multiple Threat Detection, Resident Shield Alert Accessed File is Infected, etc.). After the restore, the messages persisted, and i downloaded and ran Malwarebytes. After Malwarebytes, several threats were removed, but the messages continued, though the file names that were coming up had changed, at this point they all seemed to indicate a reference to the file location C:\system volume information\_restore{……dll.
At this point I had run several full scans with the latest version of malwarebytes while also running a full scan in safe mode and getting no threats detected. With the message still popping up, I began to seach the internet for answers and found some threads reading that AVG doesn't coexist with system restore, and that it could be my actual avg software (as opposed to the rogue) trying to warn me about what it thought was a threat. After reading that, I uninstalled AVG and installed Avast, which has been running with no threat messages since.
With that all said, is it safe to assume my computer is free of the virus? I am now symptom free. If the problem really did lie in how AVG and System Restore relate, is there anyway to fix this so I can reinstall AVG? Should I abandon AVG and go with another software? What would be recommended if so?
I have an excel file (2007) that holds the screenshots of the progression of the pop ups post the running of malwarebytes, but i cannot upload it here. If you can help me and require the images, please let me know and we can arrange an e-mail.

- Now type ComboFix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

To be on the safe side, I would also change all my passwords.
Here's my usual all clean post
Log looks good

- Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week
(Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
- Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer.
Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over.
I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients.
Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.
- Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly.
This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.
If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site
until there are no more critical updates.
- Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly.
Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.
I would suggest you read How to Prevent Malware:

Many thanks! I appreciate your time and effort!
Going forward, would you recommend I stick with avast, reinstall AVG, or go with a different antivirus?
