Hello, I am in a bit of fix here. I have a company laptop. I was laid off a few days back and as expected, my corporate network was disconnected, which is fine. However, for some reason, I am unable to access my local drive as well. When I try to log on using another domain(and not the network), which is basically the computer name\user_name with my usual password(which is the same as network password), I get the message that UN/PW is not correct. I have some personal files on my laptop which I need to retrieve and unable to do so. Is there a way to bypass this logon screen to access my hard drive? I saw some software claiming to do this(like PCLogin now). But I am not really sure if that will corrupt my existing data or not. This is Win7 Enterprise edition. Any inputs would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
Can you expect any assistance from your company's IT department?

It would be difficult to know what their procedure was when discontinuing your network access and how that affected your Windows login, without asking them.

Is the laptop now "your property" ?
If not, then you should keep hands-off until seeking assistance from your company.
If your company expects the laptop to be returned, they probably should have already confiscated it from you upon termination.
You may or may not be held liable if you attempt to breach security by entering the hard drive to access and retrieve files.
It may or may not be a legal issue. If it is, don't expect them to have a sense of humor about it. Keep hands-off until consulting the company.

If it is now "your laptop" and you are entitled to access it…
And it is simply a matter of retrieving some personal files, you "may" be able to be able to run a CD bootable instance of Puppy Linux for purposed of copy/pasting your files to an external drive for burning them to a disk.
Here's how: http://help.artaro.eu/index.php/windows-7/…ard-disk-7.html

One caveat may make the above completely impossible, and that is if your company had configured Windows 7 to encrypt files when saving.
In that case, your Windows login is required as the foundation to penetrate the encryption.

If you encounter any difficulty with an attempt via Puppy, you will need to contact your Company.

Best Regards
