The initial 12 month warranty covers manufacturing defects,as long as I haven't caused the defect with improper use. As for the extended 3 year warranty, I'm not entirely sure what's in that one. But like paws said, here in the UK the retailer / reseller is initially responsible. I'm guessing they must recoup some of the costs from their supplier and then from the manufacturer. Either way, there's no way that a computer monitor with no air vents should have problems with bugs crawling under the screen. Another one popped up this afternoon, so I know it's not a one off fluke.
It got in there some place. Find out where, probably a vent slot. Use duct tape to form a ducting to a hose on a vacuum cleaner. Let it run it all night if you have to. It went in , it has to come out. NCH
Another one? When I lived in England, I never did understand why most houses didn't have screens on their windows, especially when most houses don't have (or need) air conditioning. Granted, midges are small, so the screens have to be a very fine mesh, but that's not a problem. I don't know what to suggest. Compress air? Different monitor? Hermetically sealed room?
Mesh doors are just not a big things over here, not quite sure why. I guess it's an inconvenience to have a bit of mesh when you only get bugs flying around a few days every year… Right, I phoned up Ebuyer and they said it wasn't covered because it was neither a manufacturing or design defect. The screen is not meant to be air or water tight, and according to their tech department it's impossible to fix. So, next step is to phone up Samsung, and failing that I'm going to go down to one of the local repair shops. To be honest, I'm not quite as bothered by it now. The bug and I have started a nice friendship…his name is Tony. :friends:

When I lived there (82 - 86) it was all about taxes. If you had screens (mesh) on your windows, you got taxed extra for them in your property taxes. Maybe at one time it was that way for doors too. I had to pay 75 quid/year TV Tax to watch 4 channels of TV too. At least that included allowing me to listen to my radio in my car. ;)

I suspect when "Tony" totally dries and shrivels up, you might be able to shake him loose (better chances maybe with a cold monitor) - whether he moves under the bezel or right into the middle of the screen is another story.

As for giving bugs names…
