The other day we did an update my Windows XP computer. Now I cannot use it. I've unplugged, reset, rebooted…. Monitor shows the INTEL Biox F2 screen, then goes to show the Microsoft Windows XP screen… then the monitor goes blank, and the keyboard appears to shut down. Screen is totally blank. Since the computer is on the network, I can access the shared files and documents. I even went to logmein.com to see if it was the monitor, but logmein.com also shows a black screen. :pullhair:
If you can access the shared files from another computer then Windows is booting okay but the video is not being displayed. Try booting to the Windows Advanced Options menu.

Select Enable VGA Mode: This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode by using the current video driver (not Vga.sys).

See if it boots then. If it does, the desktop will be all messed up so you will need reinstall your video driver. One way to do this is to open Device Manager (click on Start then Run, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter), expand Display Adapters then right click on your video adapter/device and select Uninstall it. Reboot and XP will "rediscover" the video device and reload the drivers. Otherwise you will have to go to the computer manufacturers web site and download the latest driver for your video card/device and install it.

If that doesn't help, boot to the Windows Advanced Options menu and select Safe Mode. If the the video works, do a System Restore to before the update took place.

To get to System Restore: Click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools then System Restore.
yep…that is exactly what happened. had to uninstall my video drivers. update messed 'em up. Thanks!!! back up and running!
