i think it's a case of what the malware experts call a false positive,
peter knew there was nothing wrong with whatever the file/process was yet secunia kept flagging it as a problem/malware.
where's the shrugs smilie..
Pardon my ignorance if I am wrong, but I think Peter1 is referring to Secunia PSI for patches and end of life programmes that are at risk of harmful infections.
I have found since they updated the programme recently there has been a few problems like this. Even after the solution has been applied.
I have one at the moment too which just wont go away, I have apparently rectified it with thier solution over and over again to no avail, it still keeps getting flagged.
I have found with the few problem patches I have had recently that they do go away eventually lol.
Maybe the "debugger" just needs to be debugged?
The one that was causing me grief was flagged as an end of life programme (adobe shockwave player 10). So after "fiddling" I realised if you click on the drop down menu next to the flagged object it will display 2 file options, either ignore this file or open this file. I opened it and manually deleted it. Problem seems to be solved as when I rescanned it was no longer flagged and my system has gone from 99% to 100% secured.
It seems to be that since Secunia PSI was updated, when an end of life programme is detected, the solution offered is only to download and install the latest version, and not to remove the old folder hence it will keep picking it up and offering the new version as the "solution" again even though it has already been installed, causing you to go round in circles lol??? But I am only guessing. The old secunia was better as it also automatically uninstalled the end of life version after the new one was installed.

Sorry, that was supposed to be funny. I've never used it nor do I know anyone who uses it, except for you now of course.
Z, A lot can be lost with emails. I did find the humor in your comments and I was simply statistically stating that I had been ok with the program for years. That too could have been misunderstood. "We don't have much time so we must be sure to be kind to those who walk the way with us" - right?
We have no problems, you and I, as usual.
I worked hard to get that link to you and it became almost ludicrous, but I did it.
I know at this point all is out of context and confusing but I am working on it with the Secunia thread and it is going well.
I hope I can come back and be clear as to what happened, in a short story.
Thank you to others who have commented.
Peter
