Hello
I was directed by Secunia to a link which could not complete - 4016.
Does anyone know the appropriate link to click to rectify this problem so it will not be flagged but also will be corrected.
From what I read at Secunia, people have been on the phone with MS for hours to no avail yet Secunia has supposedly found the fix. It has to do with a third party installation I believe.
Thank you
Peter
Peter, what is the link? What are you trying to do?
I tried my best to get the file to you with "save target as" but it failed. i then saved it to desktop but this forum said that type of file cannot be uploaded.
I would suggest going to secunia and ruunning a scan. it is brief - you will notice the Microsoft issue flagged and the solution will take you to a thread which holds the link. Write back if you cannot get it and iIwill try to figure something out.
It did seem worth the while.
Peter
I still don't understand. What are you trying to do, and why? The link you provided is to the MS web site for MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 3 (Microsoft XML Core Services).

I don't need it, just trying to understand what this thread is about. You started out saying:
I was directed by Secunia to a link which could not complete - 4016.
so I was trying to understand why you needed ther link and what you were trying to do. Are you fixing a problem or did an Automatic Update fail or what?
Secunia kept flagging the same item. I went to the 'solution' section and it said to refer to the community.
They provided me with this link which has proven to be a problem for me as we speak. I thought all was well and just got a note from the administrator with the numbers that should represent the patch. Mine are different and i just replied to his email.
I'll let you know what becomes of this if you are interested.
The answer to your question is, I was trying to stop secunia from flagging the same item each time the scan ran.
I've never used it nor do I know anyone who uses it, except for you now of course.
Uhm… I think you should add "that I know of" to your statement.
I'm a bit confused by this thread, but if Peter is talking about Secunia's online scanner…. I've used it. Rarely… but it's a handy scanner to to identify out-of-date programs and missing updates. I'm not sure if this directly relates to Peter's issues… but I believe when there is a known issue with a specific MS update (as happens from time to time) it will refer you to the KB article with the MS solution.
Isn't "nor do I know anyone who uses it" much the same as "that I know of"?
I looked at their web site but didn't run it. I may give it a try some time when I'm bored.
