if it only happens when watching things off the internet, i'd be inclined to think it does have something to do with the wifi connection(signal strength) or it's drivers, can you disable the wireless device and connect the pc by wire and see if the problem goes away?
the ram would be: 3072MBDDR2-SDRAM … sounds weird.. i remember reading it was about 2950 MB or 3 GB.. pc wizard found these temps: TMPIN0 17C TMPIN1 50C TMPIN2 25C Thermal zone 40C Core 1 33C Core 2 33C Hard Disk 41C Hard Disk 39C im not sure which one is the video card, or if this is even what you are looking for. terry1966, thanks for your response. unfortunately, it is not possible to connect by cable. when i had a cable connection, everything worked fine, but then again, it didnt start malfunctioning right when i started using the usb. im thinking its a bigger problem, seeing as how sometimes the pc boots up multiple times in a row (because of getting blue screens) when im turning it on. i also get a random blue screen at any time while surfing the net.. or watching videos [this problem has been occuring a lot less the last couple of days. i uninstalled some programs] the drivers are good, and signal is very good/excellent. it just happens to disconnect for no apparent reason sometimes. and when i try selecting "connect to" -> NETGEAR -> i get "windows cannot connect to netgear" . thats when i have to power cycle it, and stuff it off completely, then boot it up, just to let me acces it again.
it'll be something to try at a later date anyway after you've looked at everything else first. i do know that sometimes a windows update will cause a wifi driver to stop working or become unstable, usually fixed by updating the said wifi driver to a newer version. just thought i'd explain the weird 3072MB, 1GB=1024MB so 3GB is 3072, the reason why it doesn't all show up in places is because some of it gets tied up for other things like graphics memory.
i tried installing the newest driver of the wifi usb that i got from the netgear website, and it just screwed me over.. the usb wouldnt respond, and it said bad driver and prompted me to reinstall.. so i went back to the old one from the install CD that came in the box
Not sure exactly what happened here… Did you attempt to install the newest update, but got a nag screen saying the file was 'unknown" or not having the "correct certificate." Sometimes publishers don't go to the trouble of registering for a "WHQL digitally signed certificate" If you know you are downloading from the legitimate Netgear website, it is OK to ignore certificate warning.
no it installed correctly. the problem was: with the driver i have now from the install CD works like this – install it, it FINDS the network automatically and i just connect after entering the password the new driver was literally bad– installed, the light on the usb wasnt flashing like it was supposed to, it didnt respond as if i didnt even connect it. wouldnt find a network. oh right. it also said failed to install hardware, not usre why, after the CD installation it identifies it fine and works. and the freezing issue is a little better. i actually watched 50 minutes of video today and then got a freeze.. good time compared to 10 minutes.. i have a suspicion that its a problem with certain (a lot of) media players on the net.. megavideo works.. the bad part is i dont know which performed change partially fixed it.. it still freezes eventually though, just less often
Let's have a look at Event Viewer to see the recent history of Stops and Errors.

Download VEW, it might show us what's going on. VEW by Vino Rosso http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe save it to your desktop

Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.

Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left

Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).

Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run

Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad

Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply
If you are viewing at Megavideo…. you must already know that there is a time limit imposed by the site. Most often it appears that Megavideo will allow you to view for 72 minutes, after which a "time-out" is imposed for a period of 2-3 hours. That is important to know, but you probably already do know, and is not the specific problem you are experiencing…. or is it?
