My old pc which the kids now use had to be wiped clean and system reinstalled seems to have lost the wi-fi device/driver.
Can you possibly help me reinstall it.
The machine is a Medion running on Windows XP.
The label on the back of the machine gives the details as Model PC MT6, med MT249A ?
Many thanks
Hello sarah73,
Sorry to hear you're having problems.
I'm trying to track down the driver you need, but I need to know the serial number of your PC. It should be near where you found the model number.
Cheers,
Nahumi
Hmm, that's a little odd. It appears that Medion doesn't have any drivers for a wifi card.
Do you know if it was an optional extra or added in after the PC was bought?
Now you're asking. The pc was second hand all I know is it has a little wi fi ariel in the back!
Will root out the books that came with it and see if I can find any info.
Unless the person you bought it from wrote any changes in the manual, you probably won't find it.
If you're comfortable with opening up the computer, it might be an idea to have a look at the wifi card itself. If you do so, please ensure that the PC is unplugged from the wall, off for at least 10 minutes and that you're grounded. The last one is important because you don't want to damage the components inside with an electromagnetic spark.
If you've got a digital camera, it might also help if you took a picture and uploaded it to the forum. Failing that, just look for a Model number and a manufacturer's name on the card (something like Belkin etc.)
Installed, icon in tray says Wireless Connection Status Not Connected, when clicking same Wireless Network Utility menu comes up, no networks showing
Not got a clue now, do I need to install BT hub cd on pc via cable? This is to be added to existing network as it is not main pc.
Thanks
