Hi,I have kaspersky installed on my PC and was looking for additional protection in the form of a standalone virus scanner. I came across clamwin portable which says it does not have real-time protection and I was wondering if it would interfere in anyway with my Kaspersky. Any advice appreciated.
The pro's might have more to say on this, but my understanding is that you can have as many scanners as you like, BUT, you must NEVER run more than 1 at a time, so you would need to pause Kaspersky when running other scans, then enable it again after, but there is the possibility that the different scanners pick up on the others definitions, or quarantine as issues, as such the pro's may recommend against a 2nd A\V scanner, but may suggest an alternate, at the top of the list will be Malwarebytes, not sure if you have this already or not, but a great tool if you don't, but see what the other's suggest before deciding.
I don't believe this would fall under Malware advice as it is simply suggesting a way of protection and not actually offering malware help. It is never a good ideal to have more then one real time AV running at a time simply because they can cause false positive results. The other issue is that they will eventually fight for the same file which could lead to slowing down of your system and even crashes.
