hi all!
I use a Mic with one of my desktop PC and cable of that MIC is internally broken from somewhere. When i hold the cable from that place it work fine but there is voice problem other wise.
IS there a way to recover that wire or should i buy a new Mic?
Well given it's low risk if you are OK with soldering, you could open it up, and replace the wire altogether, just make sure you wire it correctly, but depending on the value of the Mic, it may be more trouble than it's worth, more so if you don't own a soldering iron, it would be cheaper to bin it probably given how cheap some of these things are these days.
It also depends on where the break is. If in or right at the connector, it is most likely a molded connector and you can't really fix that without cutting off the connector and replacing with a new connector. If handy with a soldering iron, this is not difficult but a new mic might still be easier. And if the broken wire is right at the headset/mic end, I would not bother with a repair.
Just take care with the wire(s), 2 main points to be aware of, the main one is the wires will be marked, usually a single line down it, often white in black wire, make sure you note this wire, and see the existing connections and identify which terminal this wire goes to, both in the Mic and the jack, then make sure you duplicate these connections with the new wire.
The other thing is when you bare the wire for soldering, it's usually a bit like coax, the earth wire is like a sleeve around the inner core, also the wire is very thin and easily broken\cut through, so be gentle when baring it, and make sure there are no loose bits when fixed that could touch the other contact\wire, it will short it out if it does, thats it really, just slowly does it and have some fun.
