NO clue what problem is; notebook is seriously acting up

My HP notebook is going crazy! Several months ago, somehow, a fake antivirus program was installed on my computer. I kept receiving these prompts to restart my computer, and after hours of getting the prompts, I clicked restart, and that's when it all went downhill. Once the computer started up, I could do NOTHING without this pop-up telling me to scan for viruses. Then it would tell me it found viruses & prompt me to click a link that took me to some web site requesting my credit card information (which, by the way, I did NOT enter but was tempted since I couldn't get my computer to work). Ultimately, I restarted computer in Safe Mode & chose the option to restore my computer to a previous date where it ran good. This appeared to correct the fake antivirus problem. Several weeks after all that drama, my LCD screen suddenly started flickering, so I sent my notebook to HP for repair & it was returned to me on 11/2/10. Everything was running smoothly until I started getting these crazy pop-ups every time my computer was booted up. One of the pop-ups is Creative Product Registration. When I googled a solution, I was told to rename it from Task Manager /Processes (add .BAK to end of file name). This apparently worked because it hasn't popped up anymore during boot up. I'd still like the program removed, if possible, though.

The second annoying pop-up when computer is booted up is "status.msi"; after my last restart and boot up, this changed to "status" with source as "1". I have NO idea what this is all about. I'm able to end this by utilizing Task Manager & clicking End Task.

I downloaded HiJackThis from your web site (http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?act=post&do=new_post&f=27) & when I tried to open the program, I got a pop-up message reading: HiJackThis has been started from a temporary folder; it would be wise to copy HiJackThis.exe and save it to a folder of its own (C:\ProgramFiles\HiJackThis). I was able to run HiJackThis and save a log file, which I am posting below. I hope it contains something that will explain all this craziness! Can anyone PLEASE help me?? Thanks SOOOOO very much!
