Hi I am hoping someone can guide me through this.
History.
I got an updated router as wireless wasn’t working too well. I installed the router and the wireless works fine but I am getting erratic connections on my PC which is cable connected from a Motorola Modem SB4100 i-BG (old) It seems to have reversed the situation with good wireless and and poor cable connection) so I emailed Motorola for help and they sent the following:-

“Thank you for contacting Motorola Technical Support. I understand that you are in need of a driver for your SB4100i-BG. I am happy to provide information and apologize for any inconvenience.
The drivers that I have available will cover the SB4100, but will not explicitly support the SB4100i as you have reached North America Technical Support. But the drivers that I will link you to should work without issue. If for some reason issues persist, I would recommend contacting your local ISP for assistance and driver requests.”

I went to the link and downloaded the driver and also the instructions which advise me to remove the old driver and then how to install the new driver.(not sure I understand it all)
Now apart from it all sounding a bit complicated as I am reinstalling a new driver that may not be suitable it means I could lose my internet connections to both PC and wireless so I am a bit concerned about attempting this.

Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
A driver is not needed for a modem or a router. Your computers should be plugged in to your router with an ethernet cable, not into the modem, especially if it is via USB. If you are using a USB connection to the modem then you would need a driver, but this is not the right way to hook it up anyways.
Ok I have checked the connections and they are in fact correct, it was my terminology that was incorrect. I should have said the PC is a direct cable link from the router and the other computers are wireless. Scudo
I think the problem is now resolved. I phoned the broadband company and they went through a few checks, changed a few details and checked the connections etc, still not sure what exactly was wrong but all appears ok now.
