Hi, We recently clean installed Windows Vista Business ed (previous XP home ed.). Every thing is fine except with the internet connection. While it can connect to websites, the download speeds have become very very slow, taking hours for say a 2 MB file, and often just stopping. Panda antivirus , and Microsoft defender, and malicious software checker show no viruses nor malware. The internet connection is via a Router to broadband.(LANS via cable to router), and the computer is an upgraded e410 machine (now Pentium 4 2.8 mHz, Igb memory ,120 GB HD, Radeon 9250 128 mb card.) Vista upgrade advisor b4 and after installation show no incompartibility issues. Another computer has been upgrade to Vista home premium and connects via the router with no problems. I have upgraded the firmware for the router, and drivers for the Network controller but to no avail. Help !!!!!!
Hi I uninstalled both the network controller drivers from the manufacturer website, and the initial drivers Vista had installed, and then allowed Vista to automatically reinstall it's own drivers for the network controller, and this worked !!!! Problem solved , and downloading now fine ! :D Jimmi39
