Hi there, I have a server machine that I run for email and storage. I was playing ball with my dog, and the ball hit the server. Suddenly, it started beeping in long, intermittent beeps. I tried to restart it, but it doesn't go into POST. It just beeps with the long, intermittent beeps. I secured all the wires inside the machine, took the RAM out and put it back in, but I got the same response. Did my dog's ball short out the motherboard?
Not likely anything got shorted out in the machine. However, typical problems when something like this happens would be bad connections on the memory modules, or other expansion cards inside the machine. I would have to say that you better give it another looking over and reseat everything that can be unplugged and plugged back in. You said you reseated the RAM, but this is the most likely culprit. I would try messing with them a bit more. Maybe try one memory module or try different slots. There may be some oxidation that is causing problems that a single reseating of the memory might not fix.
