Uhmmmm? Short - and - Continuous —– seem to be quite opposite descriptions.
Do you mean that you are hearing "repeated and continuous" bursts of three short beeps, and that the continuation does not stop?
If so, this is probably an OverHeating warning!
That would be a serious Hardware issue.
If so, strip your machine down to the very basics of MotherBoard, one stick of Ram, your Video Card, and nothing else.
Does the "short continuous" beeping continue after you've removed all except the above?
Don't leave your machine on for any length of time (not more than a few seconds) if you continue receiving the beeps.
______________
Does the beeping occur if you boot into SAFE Mode?
Does the beeping occur if you boot into BIOS?
Hi alai90,
I'm not sure how familiar you are with working physically on the components of your machine.
This repair may not be something you wish to attempt on your own.
To boot into SAFE Mode:
Begin rapidly and continuously tapping the F8 key as soon as you start the machine.
This will present a Boot Option Menu from which you can Select SAFE Mode using the Arrow keys of your keyboard.
_____________
If however………… the bursts of beeping begin instantly when you power up the machine, and continue without stopping, this Warning is indicating some sort of serious hardware or heat problem, possibly with the Power Supply, the video card, the motherboard, the RAM, or the CPU (processor).
Therefore you should not continue with power turned on to your machine. Instead, turn the machine off.
If that is the situation, then you should probably consider taking your machine to a local repair shop.
Unless you are very familiar with working inside of your machine, you should not attempt to make any changes or even touch your machines CPU (processor).
__________
If you intend to proceed with any work on your own on this machine, and you want assistance from this Forum, then you will need to provide additional information about the beeping pattern and duration, and about the actual description of your machine Brand, Model, components, etc.
Is this machine still under Warranty?
Best Regards
