Hi I bought a second hand dell latitude d600. it was working perfect when 2 days a go its power cable burnt out…I replaced it with a new one…It is charging my laptop well but the green light of charger is not so bright(Actually its so faded) as it was when i was using the previous power cable! Is this dangerous for my laptop? or is it ok?? Please let me know soon! if its not good i should change the cable ! What say? Thanks for suggestions…
Until we can clarify this do NOT use the charger.

You say you changed the lead due to burning out ?
Was this the lead that plugs into the wall then into the charger to supply the feed for the PC ?
And it is the light on the charger that is dimmed ?

Should the answer be yes to all this, then I fear the charger is faulty and like a PSU in a tower it can take out your system when it goes bad, and by the fact you changed a lead strongly suggests you have had a big power surge and the charger has taken the hit, which in a way is good, and is what it is supposed to do to protect the equipment, but once it does this it is trashed (with the circumstances given here anyway), so you will need to get a replacement charger now.

The fact you had such a surge makes me wonder about your power, maybe the house is not well wired, out dated or not earthed properly, there are many country's who's wiring leave a lot to be desired, even UK wiring although very good compared to some country's, it can still have surges etc, and as such when connecting expensive equipment it is suggested to use a UPS device, but they aren't cheap, or at the least an anti surge socket, not ideal, but cheap and offer some protection, you only need x number of times when stuff gets damaged to cover what a UPS would cost, so if you can afford it then it's a wise investment, Hope this helps a bit anyway.
Yeh the answer to all your questions is "yes"….I exactly understood what you are trying to convey Thanks a ton for helping me out….Looking for a replacement charger now :)
NP, better safe then sorry, just make sure you get the correct part, using another charger that is not of the correct rating could cause even more damage and could kill the system, so like a psu don't buy cheap, it can cost you a lot more in the long run, so get it from a reputable supplier to be safe.
