Was talking to a tech buddy and he told me that Microsoft is sending out updates for XP and the update package is or has infections in the updates. Has anyone ran into this or know anything about this.
Hi Jimbo1,

Yes. It has been acknowledged that one of the several updates released on this month's "patch-Tuesdy" has caused problems in a limited number of machines running XP operating systems.

the offending update is KB977165

KB977165 is no longer being issued by Microsoft in automatic updates at this time, pending investigation and re-write.

Personally, I never allow updates to be performed automatically.
In this case, I de-selected KB977165 from the update list before allowing my own manual custom installation.
