Updates Problem

(XP) I have attempted to download all of the relevant microsoft security updates via the software patch website:
http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/index.html . Whilst most of these patches appear in the currently installed programmes and updates list, some do not appear here. This is despite the software installation wizard confirming that I have successfully completed the update wizard.
Additionally, on looking in the C drive Windows folder the logs for each update seem to indicate that none of the updates were successfully installed for example below is a log for one of the updates, which was confirmed by the software installation wizard as being successfully installed, and is also showing in the currently installed programmes and updates list.
So what I need to know is this update, along with the others, protecting my computer or not. And why do most of the updates appear in the currently installed programmes and updates list; but some do not?
