Hi guys,

Another nightmare…

3 programs (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, & Revit) were installed and working perfectly for about 2 weeks.

They weren't used for 2 days.

Now all of them will start, open up then freeze instantly…

Nothing (apparently) was changed on the computer, and the problem has just popped up out of nowhere.

I have tried many different things from running as admin, changing internet explorer options, and most recently running the computer in diagnostic mode… Nothing has made any difference.

These are the solutions I have tried:

No error messages are given. I have already done a reinstall.

Computer being used is:
Windows XP home, Intel Pentium 4 (3.20ghz), 2.00GB RAM, 96GB free hard drive space

Any guidance as to what to try next would be great :)

Thanks in advance ^_^
In the period of two days, it is possible that MS updates may have been loaded. Have you contacted the publisher site of AutoCAD to discover if anyone else is having similar problems that may have been caused by updates? Can we presume that the machine boots normally and functions normally, other than those (3) three application programs?
Hi Doug, All of the solutions tried so far have been obtained by the Autodesk knowledge base website and forums. There are many reported cases of this problem and similar - all with totally different fixes! So far, none of them have worked <_< Everything else is fine - even an older version of AutoCAD.
It appears that you have already done a decent job of searching possible problems and solutions via AutoDesk Services and Support. Since there are so many specific products available via AutoDesk, you may have to search on each one. What stands out (to me) when exploring those known problems and known fixes: Conflict with Anti-Malware Solutions Conflict with non-certificated versions/drivers Conflict with graphics card solution ___________________________ It is "possible" that AutoDesk is accessing various of your archived projects upon StartUp of AutoDesk Since these files can be monsterously huge, (and may have been created using prior versions of AutoDesk products) various cache bottlenecks in this machine may be choking. XP with a single-core 3.2ghz CPU plus 2gb RAM "should" be sufficient, but may not be robust and may take longer to access and display. What AntiMalware Solution are you running. (and do you happen to have more than one running) ? What Video Graphics Card Solutions do you have running on that machine?
Hey Doug, After battling with this for several days it was decided to do a full rebuild… It was just quicker that way. Sorry to anyone that found this post searching for a solution to a similar problem. Thanks for your input Doug.
Hey, Grumple [external image: Posted Image]

Thanks for letting us know how you've decided to proceed.
I hope that sorts it out for you.

You're sure welcome to come back and visit as you are able, or if you need.

Best Regards
