My service is Verizon High Speed internet. I have a westell 7500 model router. For about 3 months now my internet goes out multiple times throughout the day. I called the company so many times then run about 3 line test and say nothing is wrong or the problem is fixed when clearly it isnt, can anyone help?
Thats what I am asking. Does the internet connection problem also effect the game systems? You said you have two game systems when I asked if you had any other computers hooked up to that internet connection. Therefore you must be implying those game systems are hooked up to the internet. Do they continue to work without problems?
Because the problem is common to all of your internet connected devices then you can safely assume that it is not any one of those devices that are the problem. That means your computer has no problem.
The problem is either the Westell router, or your internet service.
You didn't mention if all of these devices are connected wirelessly or not? If they are wireless there is a good chance you are having wireless interference. The most likely thing to do to resolve that problem is to change the wireless channel your router uses by accessing its built in web based configuration utility.
The problem is not your computer. If its not the wireless settings, you need to request support from your service provider to replace the westell gateway or troubleshoot the internet connection.
They sent me a new router and im still having the same problems. My computer is connected wireless, 1 xbox is wireless and the other is connected wired.
If the wired device is also having the problem when it drops out, then there is a problem running to your house. Its outside of our domain. You need to demand some answers from your ISP or find another one.
check in routers web interface page where you login to it. check to see whether the router shows the connection status items such as the SNR Margin, a low SNR margin is a common cause of ADSL disconnecting and not re-syncing properly or simply not working at all. IF this is below 6 db you can experience problems, I have this problem and get frequent drop outs because of my SNR margin of between 2.5 and 5 db when I sync above 5MBit.
