How do i Format & reinstall vista with back up DVD

This laptop i bought didn't come with CD recovery coz Acer doesn't provide it. Anyhow i did a back up before using the new laptop (Vista home Premium). And now i would like to format and reinstall vista coz my laptop infected with virut. So i would like to know how do i format and reinstall vista with just using back up dvd. Please explain slow coz im slow too ^^" Thanks!

Been a while since I did an Acer, but it should have a recovery menu, check under the Start - Programs for any kind of recovery software, if there is go into it and follow the instructions, if no such entry is showing then reboot and try pressing Alt + F10, see if that gives you access to the recovery console, but once you actually get into this console, select restore system to out of the box (factory settings), and select destructive recovery, this will format the drive and reinstall you to the point where you originally bought it, this obviously means all your files\settings will be gone. Needless to say ALL data will be gone doing this, but with such a nasty infection you need to be sure it is gone, as to recovery disks I have never used them TBH, by the time I get a system it's too late lol, so I am unsure on just what using your disks would mean, my fear is it may not wipe the system securely enough to remove the infection, but if you wanted to try, put the disk in the drawer and boot to that disk, see if that gets the ball rolling, failing that we're back to the recovery console again, and look for the option to restore to a back up, then tell it look to the disk, worst case you could repeat but do the destructive recovery after if the infection remains, hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for the fast respond. I did a scan using Trend micro internet security and deteted i have PE_VIRUX.J in my laptop. Trend micro able to clean the infected programs and also remove the virus (that causing the spreading) but 9 infected programs was failed to clean ( the 9 programs fail to function when i click them). That is why i have to format and re-install vista. I will try to follow your instruction above. i hope it works. ^^

NP, once you access the recovery console it will work just fine, the problem is the way this is accessed differs between makers, and even between models from the same maker, so holla if your struggling to access this console, but my hope is it will have an entry in the programs list, and don't forget the recovery console we are looking for is not to be confused with system restore, it's completely different.
