Notifications not showing

Any notifications on my system tray is not showing but I can only hear a pop sound (the one whenever a notification appears) Is it possible to return this back to normal? Btw, my OS is Windows XP SP3.

The setting that enables or disables balloon tips is in the registry…

For safety reasons, I have provided a .reg fix for you to download:
📎EnableBalloonTips.zip

Just open the attached .zip file and run the EnableBallonTips.reg file. When asked if you want to import the changes into your registry, allow it to do so. Reboot your computer and your balloon tips in the notification area will be back.

Note: This is a user specific setting and the procedure must be performed by each user of the system that is having the problem.

The above .reg fix contains the following code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000001
