I'm using a compaq presario f730us notebook pc. when i go under " connect to a network it shows that it cant find any networks.. what happened and how do i fix this??? Please help. I'm lost..
Hi, Sorry to hear of the problem with your laptop.. Before going into full "faultfinding mode" its best to check the simple things first:…. Little fingers may have turned off the wireless switch on your machine……. check carefully that its in the correct position…..it will often have a coloured LED to indicate its switched on…check your machine's handbook/manual for precise details Let us know if this does the trick.. Next go into Device Manager and expand the network adaptor item …you should see the wireless card there…if there are any yellow or red flags against this then you will need to reinstall the drivers. Post back if you are unsure on how to do this. Finally: power cycle your router/modem/gateway/access point ( turn them off…. wait for 2 minutes, close down your computer wait 30 seconds with a blank black screen then power up first your modem then your router if they are separate, and then wait another 3 minutes, now restart your computer and see how you go. Thank you for your response. The wireless switch is set to the on position. Although it used to be blue it only stays orange now. Next I went to device manager and expanded the network adapter as you said. The only thing that came up was (NVIDIA nForce network controller) There was no wireless card or icon or anything red or yellow.. I also unplugged the router, modem and shut down the computer as you said. Still no luck. Any ideas what might have happened? I appreciate your time and help. thank you
