I have 2 computers (XP): 1- PC 2- Laptop I have updated Laptop from servicepack1 to servicepack3 and multiple security updates. PC haven't. Can I retrieve the setup files of updates from Laptop and copy them in PC and install the updates without actually having to download them (since connection sucks and not free). 10x
If you downloaded and saved the file then yes, just copy\save the file(s) to whatever media is most appropriate for you and put it on the other system, then physically save the files to that system, then run them, job done, if on the other hand you did not download and save a file then I fear the answer is no, because without the install file it is useless, the only possible hope which is a long shot is if your system saved it in a hidden system location for it's use, but I don't know exactly how updates work so I can't be sure if this may even be possible, but it's a thought incase it inspires a solution, hope you get it sorted.
Service packs and security hotfix patches are best installed seperately on each machine. There is no telling what troubles one might run into, since no two machines are alike, ever, if copying from one to another.

In the future, you might want to download the off-line installer instead. That way, you can copy the installer to the other machine, and install. But there is no way I would recommend trying to extract patches from one machine, in order to use it on another, except if really desperate, and a hotfix is required to soften further troubleshooting.

Experts and those into this, could do this, but for the normal user, it is best left alone. Just my thoughts on this ;)
