XP SERVICES ARE MISSING

ok good looking i found the other services under control set 001 i tried to import them into other one but did not show up im going to log in as admin and try it in safe mode

*if* you are looking for the services in the 'registry' itself

you know you have to change all of the 'paths' in the export file…right ?

they all say …ControlSet001… you have to change EVERY one of those to …CurrentControlSet…

*if* you are looking for the services using one of the various mmc tools, then you have a missing, (or still infeceted,) necessary dynamic link library .DLL [or svchost.exe itself could still be infected or altered.]

possibly…rundll32.dll , that is a common one the System Guard 2009 (and their variations,) like to co-opt…..along with winlogon.exe, userinit.exe, svchost.exe, logonui.exe, wuauclt.exe and others…..which is why I don't think you're clean, you basicly need to boot OUTSIDE of that os (using, as Doug mentioned, a Live CD of one kind or another ) to inspect or scan all the main windows files

ok i got the services back on there but for some reason when i run ipconfig /renew it tells me that it is not able to contact the dhcp server timed out would that be due cause the router needs to be reseted maybe

can you open a 'command prompt' window and type : PING 127.0.0.1 at the command prompt ? does it get "replys" ? [reply from…. or 'request timeout' or other error ] you might have to reset/reinstall TCP/IP….. or better yet…..did you 'restart' after importing those services……if not, then you need to restart the PC.

you know what i didnt do that but im install service pack 3 and that SHOULD fix the dhcp error LETS HOPE AND SEE if not i will be back on here to bug you gentlemen again

Hi I havent been here for a while I am having the same problems that daboss has and would be anxious to see how its fixed, I had a friend who sent me a program and I thought he was good on pc, said it will fix up start up probs but it has done all of this that daboss exactly the same as it, I did the hijack this test and its got a lot on it but I cant send it any where or post it as I have no internet on that pc to do it, so I `ll try to be here tomorrow and see how things are going, is there any way I can copy and post it, if not what can I do with the hiajack test I dont know how to repair it as might do the wrong thing again ,, thanks cya tomorrow , Rainee
