[Resolved] "0x0012fb4b" problems and cant access mcafee

After looking for answers in a lot of sites, I have found similar posts with the problems im gonna describe right now. I have do a lot of things that could solve the problems accordding to those forums, but until now nothing solve my problem. For that reason I decided to expose here my problem, I want to thanks for the patience you could give to this problem. Now please let me to explain you:

(very important.. im more like a newbie in this stuff.. but im gonna do my best to solve this problems.. another important thing is that im not good with english.. sorry!)

THE PROBLEMS:

1. Some programs automatically begin when I turn on the computer, but when the problem began some of them just disappeared.. after using CCleaner, StartupLite and Spybot (according to some forums) I solved this problem.. apparently.
2. When I just turn on the computer AND when Im closing it (turning-off), just before put my password in Windows (XP) for access the desktop, sometimes.. not always, it appears this message:
"The instruction to 0x0012fb4b makes reference to the 0x…." I have tryed to catch the complete message but I have never time to catch it complete. Its like those "errors advices" with the red cross.. really scares me.
3. I cant access www.mcafee.com or any other site that contains mcafee. McAfee is my antivirus, last week it expired and I notice the problem when i have tryed to renew.. I just cant access mcafee pages and until I couldnt renew it.
4. Firefox constantly crashes..
5. Even with MSIE I cant access mcafee.com..

What I have do until now?

* Used CCleaner with Register and with Softwares.. analised and clean everything
* StartupLite.. I have just use it and it point six programs that I suppose are no more automatically starting with my PC.
* Spybot.. it found 4 problems.. Ive clean it to.

  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Then

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot (shut down your computer then restart it).
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Tomk, really but really thanks!

Look, as this is my wife notebook, and she gotta work I had to do a WIndows XP System Restore yesterday and take another actions:

  • Uninstall Mcafee, because it all began with the renewal advices
  • I restored de system to a saved point of some weeks ago
  • I installed Avast and did a completely Scanning

After this, it seems that all was OK, but then today after receiving your answer I followed the steps and Malwaresbtes found a virus. Im attaching a PrintScreen of the actions an the logs of Malwarebytes and HijackThis:

And thats all, I really appreciate your help, Tomk, and I hope that now the system is clean. Until now all problems have been solved.
  • Now I can access McAfee website (but Im seriously thinking about change my antivirus)
  • The 0x0012fb4b advice has disappeared
  • The Generic Host Process for Win 32 advice has disappeared too!

IMPORTANT (?): In the Malwarebytes scan my Avast detected at the same time the same virus (look to the JPEG attached), then I needed to choose the Quarantaine option from Avast, because Avast do not let me do anything until I had chosen an option. Then Malwarebytes finished the Scan and I removed the virus.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As….
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.

You need to create a new Clean restore point.
Click Start Menu > Run > copy and paste

%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Press OK. Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it (something you'll remember) and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close.

Remove all previous Restore Points
Click Start Menu > Run > copy and paste

cleanmgr

At top, click on More Options tab. Click Clean up… button in the System Restore box. Click on Yes button. When finished, click on Cancel button to exit.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.
