I'm new to the forum so HI! :wavey:
I've had issues with other HJT help forums and they get angry at me (i duno why), so I hope I won't have to relive the same experience here hehe, but you guys look pretty nice.
Recently my girlfriends computer has been on the fritz. I can't get any browser (firefox nor ie) to work. But we're still able to msn or play games on the internet. When I open firefox I just get the typical "page load error" that says "failed to connect" and provides you with reasons why. The address on the bar is:

http://en-gb.start2.mozilla.com/firefox?cl…:en-GB:official

As a side note, the guys at this other "angry" forum said that I shouldn't screw around with registry cleaners, obviously I've learned my lesson, I'd just like to fix it now  (thought I'd save myself a lecture  ). Also whenever I go and do a system restore the problem magically disappears, but then comes back upon the next reboot. I've ran a HJT +log and gotten the following (after rebooting so the problem is in effect).

Sorry about the lengthy intro.

Hi, and Welcome to WhatTheTech :)

Apologies in the delay in a response. We are overwhelmed with logs at the moment and there aren't enough helpers to go around. If you still require help, please do the following:

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done two logs should open:
  • DDS.txt
  • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
—————————————————
  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scrolling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and then click UPLOAD.
Please describe how your computer is behaving at the moment, listing any symptoms and problems that you are experiencing.

This doesn't sound like a Malware problem to me but we'll have a quick check for anything bad. I may well be sending you over to our esteemed Tech Team if you come back clean though.

Thanks.
Thank you for your response. I got sick of dealing with this problem as my GF uses her computer daily, so I looked into solutions that would require a format or something. I got the computer back to factory settings. I'm still very confused on why this happened. But again I thank you for your response but you can close this thread. I will come back here for all my computer issues in the future :)
Since this issue appears to be resolved … this Topic has been closed. Glad we could be of assistance. If you're the topic starter, and need this topic reopened, please contact a staff member with the address of the thread. Everyone else please begin a New Topic.
