hey guys i am in process of building new system, I am getting all the parts from newegg, i attached a screenshot of all the parts that i'll be getting, can you give me some advice if those are good parts and is i am getting a good deal it all came up to $600. It doesn't show the cpu on there its AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core
You haven't specified the uses of this computer, but I've got some suggestions below:
Change the motherboard to this Gigabyte, it uses the same chipset but is much cheaper. This will allow you to spend a little more on your PSU. This Corsair is a much better build quality, and apparently you can use this deal (Additional 15% off w/ promo code "Jansave15", ends 1/13), but you'd have to be quick!
Going a bit further with it, this doesn't look like an ultra-high build, so you could easily "downgrade" your RAM to this and save some more money. For most uses, you'd hardly notice a difference, if any at all.
Do you have an OS to go with this build? Speakers? Keyboard? Mouse?
The uses for that computer would be basic surfing, email, downloading and maybe some light gaming, the motherboard that you recommended is actually 138 by it self and cpu is 104 so that would be 242, as you can see i got that biostar motherboard as a combo with cpu for 180. The ram that you suggested is only $3 less without free shipping and i already have keyboard and mouse, I am planning to dual boot xp with windows 7 beta 64 bit edition.
Ah right, I missed the bit where the motherboard and CPU were in a combo.
As it stands, I still vote for the PSU upgrade, but other than that, your selections were fine.
Cheers
Troy
