Hi, Recently my PC was cleaned by the Admins at the HijackThis section …but the wireless connection adapter is acting weird after that. I have been advised to post here by LDTate. :) I have a Dell E1505 laptop with Windows XP Home Edition SP3 installed and it has Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG built-in Wi-Fi network adapter. I use Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless Router WGR614 v6 and Windows to manage Wi-Fi instead of Intel ProSet/Wireless ( Please let me know if you need more information ) Well these days the WiFi radio signal randomly shuts off or gets disabled. The Wireless Network Connection still appears to be as active and connected with Excellent signal strength but the pages won't load up. The little "Computer Icon which radiates signal" will disappear … Sometimes I can't even do a right click to repair the connection. When I open Network Connections, the Wireless Network Connection appears to be Disabled ( Status : Disabled, Firewalled ) …When I Enable it, it gives me error messages saying "Connection Failed" ..This has been happening a lot lately and I am left with no other option to reboot the PC after that. It works fine for few hrs but breaks down again …. I searched some topics off net and installed the latest drivers from Intel …Lets see how it goes …I can update you on that later on …Meanwhile please let me know if you have suggestions ? :) Thanks in advance ! -VK Just in case if you need this info … —————————————————– Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Swami Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-15-C5-A7-28-FB Ethernet adapter {E9FCFC62-E181-48EC-A113-DA7EDEAF9422}: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Nortel IPSECSHM Adapter - Packet Scheduler Miniport Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 44-45-53-54-42-00 Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.241.150 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Juniper Network Connect Virtual Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-FF-10-86-8A-83 Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-13-02-CC-1F-BE Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Monday, January 05, 2009 9:46:39 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Tuesday, January 06, 2009 9:46:39 PM
Hi, To save yourself a lot of grief, this is what I suggest you try first; 1 Use your machine at a chum's place and see if it connects reliably and maintains the connection when connected to his/her router. 2 Post back with the results and we can take it from there. Regards paws
Paws , Thanks for your help …I will try that option but I can do it only over the weekend …Hope this thread won't be closed due to inactivity ? By the way, Installing the latest drivers didn't resolve the issue …. Thanks, -VK
Hi Vk, Don't worry about the thread being closed. we'll keep it open until you have had a good chance to check things out regards paws
