Here you go…. Let me note a couple of things first. I am only able to run this in safe mode. When I run it in regular it simple locks us after I click continue at the opening screen. It displays a small window saying that it is loading header information but nothing ever happens and a check reveals that the program is not responding. I have attempted to rename the file woodersonRSIT to see if this changes my ability to run it in this mode but it is still not possible. Additionally there was only one log that appeared when I ran this….the log.txt. I was able to find an info.txt file when I went into the program folder for RSIT on my C drive however. The curious thing (since I already had this program on my system prior to you giving me the link) is that the info.txt has a date of January 2nd on it instead of January 6th. The log.txt is as of the 6th so this one confuses me a little. At any rate here is the information you requested. And thank you again for your time in helping me resolve this frustrating issue. Oh, you asked me whether there were any signs of redirecting webpages, pop-ups etc. There are none at all right now. When I try to launch IE or simple Outlook Express neither of them will connect. IE pops up and is completely white space inside the frame with no indication it is even looking for a page. It simple locks up and nothing ever happens (no messages that I need to check my connection or anything). Outlook Express comes up where I can see the menu bar at the top and the sidebar with my folder options etc, but white space where my emails should be. Similar situation to IE in that this never changes and I end up having to end the task. IE after ending the task offers me the ability to inform them of the situation and if I select yes it is unable to connect to the internet and tells me to check my connection. All of this seems odd since if I hover over the little computer monitor icon in my system tray it says that I'm connected to the internet. So there you have the long and the longer of it :)

—————–EOF—————–
hi, thanks for all the info. You can delete RIST.exe. Dont see anything that looks like malware to me in the logs. May be other issues going on with IE?
Any recommendations as to what I should do or who's help I should seek out to get this fixed. Is this something that I should talk to my internet provider about for example? Or…. could the malware that was removed have broken all sorts of connections inside my system that need to be restored. Just looking for help as to what my next steps should be now that you've helped me remove the malware threat. Thank you so much for your time and patience. And I appreciate your taking a look and giving me this apparent clean bill of health in terms of any malware threat lingering on my system.
how are you getting on the internet? does it work (IE) ok only sometimes.? I noticed there are some entries that have been removed by hjt. Looks like you had more malware at one time at least with in the last 30 days and you have used hjt to remove some items. Unless you have a connectivity problem, which your ISP could check from there end they wont be of much help.
I have been accessing the internet through my laptop and then burning discs back and forth to show you log info etc. No IE access on the problem computer other than right after you had me run Malwarebytes and SDFix the first time. Right after that everything seemed to work perfectly (internet access and everything). I went to bed and woke up in the morning to find that the computer had rebooted and my access was lost once again. Running Malwarebytes and SDFix again did not find anything this time.
Sorry. My mistake on the SDFix comment. Thanks for the advice regarding the lost connection. I noticed in the comments that one person gave it only one star due to problems encountered with Service Pack 3. Should I be concerned? I have Service Pack 3. Additionally….. The issues with my system are not just the internet connection at this point. The whole machine still move slow. I'm not able to do a normal restart or shutdown from normal mode without having to resort to turning the computer off manually. I still get my chosen background when it boots up for about 15 minutes with no desktop icons and no ability to launch programs without a complete freeze-up. If I let the computer sit it will eventually shift over to a blue background and all of my icons will be displayed and I can actually work on the system. It is slow and certain things will not function (i.e. right clicking will at times just hour glass forever). I no longer get displays that I have any connectivity to the internet (no computer icon in the system tray anymore). I'm basically lost as to whether I still have an infection that current methods just can't remove or identify ……or is this just a matter of restoring some connections that have been damaged or lost in the removal process. Are there any tools to identify whether my system is missing something that it needs to function? Sorry for the long winded response, just trying to paint an accurate picture of where I'm at now.

I noticed in the comments that one person gave it only one star due to problems encountered with Service Pack 3. Should I be concerned?

at this point I think its worth a try.

I really think you should pull off what you dont want to lose and refomat/ re-install windows. I dont see any apparent fix or solution for the issues your machine is having. A good place for guides on reformatting/reinstalling is the computer manuf. website.
