Unknown Malware or Trojan

My system is all jammed up. Emails are received but not able to be sent. Can't launch webpages or I get warnings from the system tray that there are various trojans. I have two new short cuts on my desktop. One says "Online Spyware Test" and the other "Run Virus Scan". When I look at their properties the URL for "Online Spyware Test" says www.workspacelinkz.com/test/?c=76386. The "Run Virus Scan" says www.workspacelinkz.com/soft/?c=56381. I also have a box up on the screen right now saying "Fatal Error!" "The instruction at "0x66f7d450" referenced memory at "0x00000d0". If you were in the middle of something, you might lose the information you were working with. This fatal error probably occured because of a virus on your PC. Would you like to download the latest version of antivirus software? I don't have Hijack This loaded onto this computer but I do have AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy. I have run both and eliminated everything they have found. I have also rebooted multiple times. Other messages that have come up have indicated that my windows firewall is not activated. When I go to turn it on it tells me that it cannot complete this operation. I booted into safe mode and tried and received the same denial. I also ran Spybot from safe mode and it found nothing. Of course neither of those programs are being allowed to go out online and update themselves so that could be part of the problem. What do you recommend that I do to tackle this monster problem? Thanks for your help.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. My home system is basically inoperable so I'm freaking out a little bit. I know lots of others are in the same boat but any help someone can give would be great. Thanks!
hi,

we will get a download to use. after you use it post the log. Also download and post a hjt log after using MBAM.

MBAM: link and directions:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) to your desktop:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

please post the MBAM log in reply

HJT:
download hjt:

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/th…/HJTInstall.exe

* Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
* Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
* Click on Install.
* It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
* Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
* Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log in your reply.
I downloaded MBAM and burnt it to a disk so I could load it on the infected machine. Once there is was not able to go out to the internet to update itself. I ran it anyway and it did find about 17 items for removal. It took 7 hours for it to run which I assume is because of the hampered function of my system right now. I saved the log first before clicking on "Remove Selected" because I was worried the system might lock up again (which it did). After asking it to remove the selected items a little bar comes up at the bottom of the program indicating that it is quarantining but nothing ever happened and a check of the application indicated that it was not responding. What do you suggest? I briefly thought that I could manually remove them all since it lists their locations but I didn't actually do it. I'll post a HJT log after I hear back about what my next course of action should be. Thanks.

hi wooderson23

sorry for the delay. You can try running MBAM in safe mode. If you cant get to update via the internet:
you can download the latest files for it here: at the bottom of the page– 'Latest Database'

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

to boot into safe mode you would tap the f8 key during a computer restart. Chose the first option from the list safe mode
once at the safe mode desktop run MBAM.

7 hours is way to long for a complete scan to finish, see if safe mode helps. If not we can try something else.
Thanks, I'll give it a try. When looking at the log some of the items it wanted to remove seemed like they might be safe. For example the files for MY MUSIC, MY PICTURES, MY VIDEOS and MY DOCUMENTS. I just want to be sure I don't delete something that takes out all of the photos of our child for example.
Ok, it succeeded in letting me remove the items found be Malwarebytes. Here is my latest HijackThis log and the log from Malwarebytes. Thanks. My computer has been rebooted into regular mode and is still showing a white backgrond with "Active Desktop Recovery" on it. It gives me several options and has a button to select "Restore my Active Desktop". I still have a shortcut that I don't recognize on my desktop called "Run Virus Scan". When I look at its properties it has the URL workspacelinkz/soft/?c=56381. I have yet to try anything other than burning these logs to a disk since executing Malwarebytes and HijackThis. I still get a baloon at the system tray saying that my firewall is turned off also.

I am currently running Malwarebytes again to see if it finds anything else. Should I be deleting the files that it placed in Quarantine after the last time I ran it? Thanks!
hi wooderson23, after you run malwarebytes you should do this: * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. *** Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.*** all those "no action taken" mean the files were not removed from your computer: Files Infected: C:\Program Files\WebMediaViewer\browseu.exe (Trojan.Zlob) -> No action taken. C:\Program Files\WebMediaViewer\myc.ico (Trojan.Zlob) -> No action taken. C:\Program Files\WebMediaViewer\myd.ico (Trojan.Zlob) -> No action taken. C:\Program Files\WebMediaViewer\mym.ico (Trojan.Zlob) -> No action taken. etc. check malwarebytes for any updates, then preform a full scan and: * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. *** Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.*** post the log in reply.
I had removed everything so I'm not sure how the log I posted showed something different. Maybe I was copying the log info that pops up right after it finishes running but before I selected Show Results and Removed Selected. At any rate…. Here you go…. I still have "Active Desktop Recovery" in my background though.

hi, you dont see any button that says: restore my active desktop? you can also try on the desktop: right click>properties>desktop. then select a desktop background from the list, ok and apply
I do see the button "Restore my Active Desktop" I just didn't know whether it was ok for me to press it or not. Computer is back to moving like a snail. I can't launch web browser without the window just sitting there empty saying the it's connecting while nothing ever happens. Briefly after running Malwarebytes and SDFix it appeared that all was well and bubbles were popping up in the system tray letting me know that updates were available for my system etc. Over night something must have happened because my computer had rebooted itself and problems were back. I ran Mawarebytes and SDFix again and they came up empty this time. I will note that I ran Malwarebytes in regular instead of safe mode this time around. The other way I can confirm that things were working correctly after my last log post is that I was able to click update on Malwarebytes and it actually updated itself. That had not been possible prior. I'm not sure what happened since then.
hi,

are you having any signs of malware like redirected web browsing, pop ups etc? lets run a diagnostic tool, it wont remove anything only display it;

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<info.txt (<
