Hi.

Disable Windows Defender.

Open Windows Defender.

Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.

After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.


Right-click HijackThis and select Run As Administrator…. Hit Do A System Scan Only. Place a check next to the following items (if present):

and then hit enter.

Please upload this file:
C:\uRun.reg
as an attachment in your next post.

When I went to upload the other file it would not let me upload it said i'm not permitted to upload file.

Can you rename it to uRun .txt and try again?

If the icon doesn't change to a little notepad, then we need to make sure we can see file extensions.
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View Tab.
  • Uncheck the Hide extensions of known file types option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Then try renaming and uploading again.

I have question when I put in the link I have to copy and paste at the top and, once I done that is something supposed to pop-up because nothing ever does? I also checked my folder options and it was already unchecked when I went to go check it out.

No, nothings supposed to popup, it just creates the file.

Is renaming to .txt not working then? If not, try this:

I have a question when I ended up going to website you sent me to my desktop icons seemed to have disappered that would not have anything to with that would it. How do you want me to attach it because, I can not find it on my computer accept in my emails or, do you just want me to post the link?

That link comes up as invalid for me. Can you check the email to see if the link there matches that one? If they are different, please post the link in your next reply.

If not, I think we can have a better try at getting the file as an attachment. Only do this if you do not have a new link for me.

Click Start >> Run and copy and paste the following into the popup box:
regedit.exe /e C:\upload.txt HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and then hit enter.

Please upload this file:
C:\upload.txt
as an attachment in your next post. There shouldn't be a problem with this type of file.

Apologies, that file has expired. I think it is a problem that we are trying to do this over the Christmas period when we are quite busy. Let's upload to a place where it wont expire.
  • Click here to go to Spykiller.
  • In the Name box, type in your name.
  • In the Email box, type in your email address.
  • In the Subject box, copy and paste in File for analysis.
