First post here. Woot Woot! Alrighty let's see…these things have been there for awhile and its making me mad. I can't get rid of em and I've tried many times. Reboot, safe mode, uninstall and its gone but comes back. At first it was Malware 2008 but now it seems to be gone and seems like Antivirus XP 2008 took its place.

Also whenever I start up my computer and log on to my account, in the first few seconds, the picture in the background is there but then is gone, replaced by a blue screen with a warning saying the computer has detected spyware and such and needs to be deleted. Then a thingy (sorry don't know the term XD) like a warning box says "can't find .tt5.tmp.vbs" or something of that nature and then in another few seconds I get that "blue screen of death" i beleive is the term. It then restarts as it says and then it just does it again. I'm assuming that this is also tied into the Malware/Antivirus thing as it has never happened before until that it came. Another thing the .tt5.tmp.vbs is an example everything else is the same but the numbers change and letters can be added on like .tt1D.tmp.vbs. etc.

Another thing (lol lot's of things…sorry XD) I seem to lost a couple of tabs when i click on properties. I only have three which are themes, appearances and settings also never happened before until this. Anywho, I guess this is the HJT thing…

Hi Meester E,

You have signs of a RAT (Remote Access Trojan) on your computer.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sysrest32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysrest32.exe

http://www.castlecops.com/s17236-sysrest32_exe.html

http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/vi…jdloadrbgt.html

Troj/Dloadr-BGT is a backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer.

When first run Troj/Dloadr-BGT copies itself to \sysrest32.exe and creates the following files:

This means your attacker may have full remote access to your computer and can use it as if he were sat in front of it.

You are strongly advised to do the following immediately:

1. Disconnect infected computer from the internet and from any networked computers until the computer can be cleaned.

2. Call all of your banks, credit card companies, and financial institutions. Inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.

3. From a clean computer, change *all* your online passwords – for email, for banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, any online forums or groups you belong to.

Do NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer, because the attacker will get the new passwords and transaction information.

IF YOU USE THIS COMPUTER FOR ONLINE BANKING OR OTHER FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS, OR HAVE DATA OF A CONFIDENTIAL NATURE ON IT, MY RECOMMENDATION IS THAT YOU RE-FORMAT AND RE-INSTALL YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM AND PROGRAMMES. WE CAN NEVER BE TOTALLY SURE WE HAVE GOT RID OF ALL MODIFICATIONS WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN MADE BY THE ATTACKER, AND THEREFORE CANNOT GUARANTEE THE SAFETY OF YOUR DATA.

Guide to re-formatting and re-installing courtesy of wng_z3r0

If you don't have the resources to reinstall your OS and/or would like me to attempt to clean your machine, I'll be happy to do so.

To help you decide, please take some time to read the following articles, then let me know how you want to proceed.

What are Remote Access Trojans and why are they dangerous
How do I respond to a possible identity theft and how do I prevent it
When should I do a reformat and reinstallation of my OS
Where to backup your files
How to backup your files in Windows XP
Restoring your backups
Hey! Thanks for the reply! Uh well I don't use the computer for anything else except for email, aim, downloading and looking at stuff. No transactions so I think it's probably better to help me clean it.
OK, I'm happy to help you get your computer cleaned up, so let's get started.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SDFix.exe
  • Accept default location and click Install button.
  • It will now extract the files to C:\SDFix
Reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
Note: if you cannot boot into safe mode using this method, DO NOT attempt to do so by using MSConfig, this could result in your computer becoming unbootable. Just let me know.

Once in safe mode.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste me the contents of Report.txt

Next

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

  • Click on the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware icon to launch the programme.
    • Click the Updates tab.
    • Click Check for Updates and allow the programme to download the latest definitions.
  • Click the Scanner tab.
    • Check Perform Quick Scan.
    • Click Scan and wait for the scan to complete.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results.
    • Ensure all items are checked then click Remove Selected.
    • A box will pop-up telling you that files have been quarantined.
    • A log will pop-up.
  • Post the log in your next reply please.

You can also access the log by doing the following
  • Click on the Logs tab.
  • Click on the log at the bottom of those listed to highlight it.
  • Click Open

Next

Run a new scan with HJT and post me the log please.

Summary of the logs I need from you in your next post:
  • SDFix log (report.txt)
  • MBAM log
  • New HJT log

Please post each log separately to prevent them being cut off by the forum post size limiter.
Ah! Sorry about the late reply! I think its gone now XD But in just in case…btw these scans were scanned few days ago but I haven't been online if that means anything…o.O

OK, looking good so far.

You appear to have 3 Anti-Virus programmes running on your computer.

AVG 7 (which is now out of date and has been replaced by AVG 8)
McAfee
Symantec/Norton

You must only have one Anti-Virus, otherwise they will conflict with each other, giving you less not more protection.

You must decide which one you want to keep and uninstall the others.

Reboot your computer when finished and post me a new HJT log.

Since you had a backdoor on your computer I'd also like you to run another scan to make sure we got everything.

First

  • Click Start > Run and type cleanmgr then click OK.
  • This will bring up the Disk Cleanup window.
  • Check the following entries.
    • Temporary Internet Files.
    • Recycle Bin.
    • Temporary Files.
  • Click OK.
  • When a prompt pops up click Yes.

Then

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Note: You must be using Internet Explorer as your browser as it will be necessary to install an Active X component to your computer.

Important If you have previously used Kaspersky Online Scanner (before 8th Aug 2006), you will have to uninstall the old version using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel before you can use the new version.

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
  • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
  • Now click on Scan Settings.
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      • Extended (If available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
      • Scan Archives
      • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK.
  • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Click the Save Report As… button (see red arrow below)

    [external image: Posted Image]
  • In the Save as… prompt, select Desktop
  • In the File name box, name the file KAVScan
  • In the Save as type prompt, select Text file (see below)

    [external image: Posted Image]
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post please.

Note: The Kaspersky online scanner is not yet fully compatible with IE7. You may get returned to a window without the Accept/Decline buttons after allowing the ActiveX control. The buttons are there - you just can't see them! Click on the zoom button (bottom, right of the window) and change it from 100% to 75%. You should now see the buttons. Reset to 100% once the license has been accepted.
