I have been told that you can turn off Unnec Windows System Services in system tools or msconfig to free up memory… Which ones are safe to turn off (there are alot)
Hi, It is possible to turn off unwanted services, but I recommend you proceed with caution.
1 Check your back up/copy/archive of all your important stuff is 100% accurate up to date reproducible and kept safely on removable media. before you start.
2 Back up your Registry and set a system restore point and making a fresh disc image would also be a wise move.
3 Research the services and their interactions thoroughly before proceeding……keep a log of everthing you do so you can undo it if it creates problems …..
4 only disable one or two items at a time not a whole load of them..( you will then know which ones are causing a problem if your machine doesn't work properly following a reboot!)
When you are ready to start then go here for a good overview of the services and which does what: http://www.blackviper.com/
Good luck
