Trying to set up master & slave drive

Trying to sort out the hard drives….. Drive C is original to the pc and is a … Seagate Barracuda ATA V 60GB model 67 3600 15A This will be the master and has no jumpers. Drive D is an old one and once installed will delete all info and use as a backup (slave)… Western digital WD400 modelWD400eb-11CPFO 5 sets of pins and jumper in last set next to power connector Ribbon cable …. One end to motherboard Other end to master (C drive) Connector in the middle to slave drive When set up like this it appears to run ok and both drives are accessible. However on boot up I do get a brief message saying… “Sec Master drive AT API incompatible” Ok can anyone confirm or help me with this set up? Tried googling but getting confused thanks

sounds correct to me. master drive at end, secondary in the middle. jumpers in correct position? maybe clearing the CMOS and rebooting?
