Hi all,

iIam upgrading my PC (can`t afford a new one) from various bits of memory and harddrives given to me. The first part of me doing this work is to find out if I can use the memory as pictured below, in other words will it be compatible. I know I only have spave for another one so hoping the 512MB can be added.

No 1 is the original already in the PC.
Nos 2 & 3 have been given to me and I want to add it to give me more memory.

Question can anyone please tell me if 2 & 3 are compatible with No 1.

thanks

Hi there, RAM 1 = PC-2100 or DDR 266MHz RAM 2 = PC-2700 or DDR 333MHz RAM 3 = PC-3200 or DDR 400MHz As you can see, they are all different. They are all DDR RAM, however, and in theory, should work together on a motherboard that supports those speeds. Please can you post the make and model of your motherboard? Troy
I have the case opened up and don`t see any obvious name anywhere, the tower is not hooked up to run at the moment.. the tower was also donated to me so don`t have any booklets etc with it.
The motherboard model number will be sufficient enough. You should be able to find it printed on the motherboard itself. Click here for an example of a picture that shows the motherboard make as MSI and model number as K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI.

Your particular motherboard may have a shorter name, printed in a different spot, etc… Have a good look around (sometimes a torch may help you spot it).

Hi there,

Unfortunately no motherboard of that model exists, but…

The GA-8SIML exists (with an L on the end, not C). Does your motherboard look like this? Here is the link to the page.

If this is the right motherboard, then your motherboard can only support DDR 266 (PC-2100) RAM. (The number 1 stick).

Troy
Yes it does, my fault with typing. (apologies) should be an L. Thanks for the info looks like I need to search for some more RAM then No1 stick is already in and was hoping to add to that with one of the others. :-(
OK got to grips with this part, so this topic can close. Will start a new one on my questions with harddrives / DVD players thanks for help
