Hello everyone Trying to remove some pins from a processor slot that a friend had foolishly tried to rip out and left some of the pins from the previous processor in it. I can only really see two in it and wondering if there's anything i can do to save this slot and even motherboard without having to take it a hardware tech to fix. Any ideas some one let me know. Thank you Chris
CPU sockets are ZIF sockets (Zero Insertion Force) sockets, meaning you just drop the device in, then use a locking mechanism to hold it in place. Is the clamping lever released? If so, try turning the board upside down and shaking, with little taps. Otherwise, a steady hand with precision jewelers needle-nosed pliers may be needed. That said, the socket may be damaged beyond repair - and that is new motherboard time. :(
