I have recently turned on DEP for all programs, and after that, some of my programs (Counter Strike: Condition Zero, Riva FLV Player and a few other programs) don't run anymore. Opening them gives no prompt or error message - they just don't run. I have tried setting DEP for Windows Programs and services only and they work fine if this is the setting I choose. My processor (Intel Celeron M) supports hardware-based DEP protection. Is there a way to enable this alert/warning? My OS is Windows XP Professional with SP3, automatic updates enabled.

Go into your DEP settings and disable DEP for those programs.

Yes, I have already added programs that I know have been closed by DEP to the exclusion list.

My concern is about the warnings/alerts that DEP does (by default) when it blocks a program from running. I won't know if DEP is the cause of a program not running as my Windows XP doesn't give error messages or warnings if DEP blocks a program.

I am wondering if I have changed a setting somewhere or installed a program that did, as I don't get any prompts/warnings at all. In other Wimdows XP sytems, I have observed that Windows XP does indeed show an alert if DEP has closed a program.

Also, I prefer that DEP not be disabled nor be set to Windows programs and services only.
