Hi All. This is my second post as no reply to first, Here goes. My computor has been behaving very badly for some time now. Cleared a few Trojans, got rid of over 400 ad aware, and hopefully removed an AGOBOT. Worm. but still the comp is like a snail. The other day as i was sat here the screen started to work on its own opened up my email account and went into my e-mails, i disconnected from internet as i feared i was being hi-jacked, Ive placed my log file and spec of comp as i believe i have far to many programs running, (about 70 when only need approx 30) but i dont know which ones are needed Also how do i remove old accounts as there are alot which seem to clog up the system
Also just done an ESET scan it found Trojandownloader.Wimad.N.Trojan, 2x a Varient of trojandownloader.Get.Codec.Gen, and Win32/adaware.180.solutions.applications.
which no other scan have found and these have been in my comp for ages, as they were found in downloaded music files.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Welcome to the Forums.

The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!

  • Save and quit any work your doing before beginning the fix.
  • All hijackthis logs I ask for should be done in normal mode ( not safe mode)
  • These logs should be done last after you have followed my instructions in the previous post.

Please if you decide to seek help at another forum let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and tying 2 of us up is a waste of time.
If you have any questions about any advice given here please STOP and ask!

I'm sorry no one got to your last log. We sometimes get busy and a few get missed.
In the future if you have had no response to a log after 5 days report it here.

I will close your other thread.

You seem to have to anti virus program s running.

Symantec/Nortons and AVG7

They will fight for resources, conflict with each other and provide you with much less protection.
Not to mention slow your computer down.
I strongly urge you to remove 1 of them through add/ remove programs now.

Let's get a few scans make sure your clean/malware free then we will talk about which programs you need to have running all the time.

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
Running From: C:\SDFix

Checking Services :

Restoring Windows Registry Values
Restoring Windows Default Hosts File

it has however created a system report if thats any good to you!!

I also tried to remove Norton but unsure if it has done it properly
I have changed homepage to google.

Also before this Malware scan i ran another one, which unfortunately my son cleared off the comp before i could save file, on the scan previous to the one listed it said there were over 250 adaware and around 10 trojan detected but this one straight after only showed the two registry keys!!

Kind Regards Lisa
We have noticed that most people seeking help from us are coming with infections contracted from the use of P2P programs.

Because of this, we felt we needed to change our policy on the use of P2P file sharing programs.

You have the following P-2-P program installed that I can see so far.
Limewire

This is how you uninstall it/them:

  • Click Start
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Go to Add/Remove Programs
  • Find and click Remove for the following (if present):

    Lime Wire

Without removing this Peer to Peer program or ANY others I will be forced to withdraw my help.

    ___________________________________
    Search for and remove
Now I want you to search for and delete the following folder and all it's contents if present. If you need help finding them.
Click start /search/ all files and folders/ look for More advanced options. once in there select the first 3 boxes.
Please just remove the files/folders I listed in BOLD

Note: This came from Limewire so you can see it supports the removal of such programs.

Well were still not finding much in the way of Malware.
I would like to point something out to you.
If you truly had the AGOBOT. Worm it is a backdoor Trojan and should be treated as such.
I normaly give this speech when I see a backdoor Trojan.

A backdoor Trojan allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files.

It is very possible that anything could have been installed on your computer by the remote attacker, including opening other backdoors and installing rootkits. While we can attempt to clean what we see in your logs, we can't guarantee that your computer will be completely in the clear since we have no way of knowing that has been done to the computer. Your computer could be completely compromised at this moment. It may be prudent to backup your information, reformat, and reinstall.

More information on Remote Access Trojans can be found
here

I suggest you do the following immediately:
  • Call all of your banks, credit card companies, financial institutions and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change *all* your online passwords – for email, for banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, any online forums or groups you belong to.
  • Do NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new passords and transaction information.

If, however, you decide that the computer is not used for any sensitive work, or if you do not wish to reformat at this time, I can help you clean your computer to the best of my abilities.

We're going to fix one small thing and do a few more scans to be sure it's ( programs opening slow) is not a malware related problem.

Backup Your Registry with ERUNTOpen the program to backup your registry to the folder of your choice.
My documents is a good place to save it.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Open notepad up and copy everything exactly in the box below into it.

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\explorer]
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=91

make sure to have no lines before
REGEDIT4

and

One (1) space before the end.
Now click on save and save TO YOUR DESKTOP

as "File Name" fix.reg

Save as File type "all files" NOT TXT DOCUMENT

Once saved double click the file you just made and when asked to merge with the registry click yes.

Now delete that file.

OK I am convinced you are clean to the best of my ability.

I will have a few recommendations to help speed things up. I will also list a place or 2 that you can look for help more qualified than I with your slow running program issues.

Great news ! [external image: Posted Image]

Your log now appears to be clean.

Lets do a few things to tidy up.

Adobe Acrobat Reader update

You are using an older vulnerable version of Adobe Acrobat Reader {(7)}. Please go here to download Adobe Acrobat Reader 8…

When you have finished installing the Acrobat Reader, please go to Add/Remove Programs and verify that there are no versions listed other than Acrobat Reader 8. If you find older versions, remove them.

When finished, reboot your computer.

RUN HJT

HJT
Run hijackthis and choose scan only and place a check by the following lines if present.
Close all other windows and browsers except HJT before clicking on Fix Checked
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

____________________________
You have QuickTime running at Startup. This is QuickTime's system tray icon and not necessary for the program to function properly. It is considered to be a resource hog.
You will still be able to start it manually if you need it. You can fix this with HijackThis, but you will need to change the setting in QuickTime
Player itself to keep it from resetting itself.. This is the item to fix in HijackThis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe
This update program barley ever works. You can check it your self from time to time by going to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
You will always be looking for the lateset update for this: Java Runtime Environment As of this month it's JRE 6. Update 7. Which we just had you get.
It to is a resource hog.

O9 - Extra button: Run IMVU - {d9288080-1baa-4bc4-9cf8-a92d743db949} - D:\Documents and Settings\Renshai Warrior.048919120306.001\Start Menu\Programs\IMVU\Run IMVU.lnk

Related to IMVU 3D messenger has been known to cause problems and, unless it is something you really want to keep, should also be removed using the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs.

Close that.

This process is going to clean up some of the tools we have used.

  • Open OTmoveit.
  • Click on Cleanup!.
  • Allow it to access the internet if any security software asks about it.

It will ask you if you want to start the clean up process :
  • Click yes.
  • When it's ready it will ask you to reboot.
    Do so now.
Then finish up with the rest of the instructions.

You may/should keep Malwarebytes anti malware tool and ccleaner to help keep things running smooth.

I noticed something called Messenger plus in one of the logs.
I would consider uninstalling it .

Messenger Plus! (MessengerPlus2, MessengerPlus3) (MP) is an add?on for Microsoft's free messaging programs Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger.
It is a 'free' download (with a few stingers in its tail). MP includes an optional Sponsor Program provided by C2Media.
The Sponsor Program is commonly known in the anti?spyware and adware world as 'Lop' or 'Lop.com'.
There has been a problem since Messenger Plus! first started including the Sponsor Program in approximately
May 2003, with users installing the Sponsor Program without understanding what the Sponsor Program is, what it does to a user's system, or the privacy implications involved.

Messenger Plus!, if installed to include the 'sponsor program', will install adware on your computer that generates pop up windows.
The Sponsor Program will also change your home page, your search engine settings, place numerous links in IE favorites (including online casino and gambling links) and place more
links on your desktop. The search toolbar that is installed cannot be turned off. The pop up advertising windows will appear even if you are running IE's pop?up blocker.
This is because the Sponsor Program adds its advertisement URLs to the pop?up blocker exclusion list.
If you want to reinstall MessengerPlus3, make sure you click "I refuse, do not install the sponsor program".
This program is not required to start automatically as you can start it manually if you need it. It is advised that you disable this program so that it does not take up necessary resources. .

Download and Install a HOSTS File
A Hosts file is a plain text file which prevents your computer from connecting to malware and spyware sites by redirecting the connection request to 127.0.0.1, which is your local address. If you use a proxy server, or if you are on AOL, be sure to read the special instructions.
You can download the MVPS Hosts File and see a HOSTS file tutorial here :
This website also contains useful tips, and links to other resources and utilities.

Here's a site with great advise on how to AVOID malware. Much easier to do than removing it.

Hi Bob would Spywareblaster work with or against Spybot? Also i cant defrag my D drive as i only have 12% and need 15% What is it I need to remove to access more free space as i dont really have much in way of music, photos or games on comp so where has all the space gone perhaps old accounts as there are loads and I would very much like to get rid of them all bar the one we have now! I would like to thank you for your time and appreciate the help you have given me. Kind Regards Lisa
Spyware blaster will work fine with spybot search and destroy.

______________________________

I have no idea where all your space on your "D"drive went.
It sound like it's almost full to me.
If you have some programs on it that you can afford to lose uninstall those and remove the folder.
You will ultimately have to decide what it is you want to remove from the hard drive to defrag it.
Look for older pictures, music files anything that you don't need or havent used in a long time.

___________________________________
If there are old accounts on the computer that you would like to remove here's how.
Open control panel
click on user accounts
click on change account
Click on the account you want to delete.
Click on delete files
then delete account/

_____________________________
The way to check for what space is left is simple .
Open "MY Computer" right click on Local disk "D"
Select properties and a window will open with a pie graph showing how much space you have used and what is left.
This may be helpful when deciding what has to go.

___________________________________
You may also copy/back-up some files to a CD and then delete them from the hard drive.
As a hard drive becomes more and more full it will slow things down alot, so keep that in mind.

I hope this helps some.
Your a star Bob thanks again We can officially call this a closed case now. Your service is a great one and the sites you gave me links to are super. :wavey:
